For many, Gomes was an enigma wrapped in a conundrum. Black, Republican, Gay, Preacher, Theologian, Pilgrim-phile, and son of Harvard. What a package this man was. But what always seemed clear was his wit, along with his devotion to his Harvard 'flock'. Coming out had to be as tough as living in the closet.James C. Collier
