White Man Gets Jawboned

WARNING: PROFANE LANGUAGE.

What I want to know is who paid for this crap? Did Jawbone sue them? It's hard to fathom that a company would ever present something like this to sell a product, but viral advertising is catching on. I'm not so surprised, given the Pepsi/Dorito Super Bowl ad, where the little black boy slaps a grown-up black man across the face for leering at his comely mother and eating his corn chips (here). Is this sick or entertaining? Or Both? Thoughts?

  1. You're right, that's one of the most disturbing things I've ever seen. I hope the hand basket is comfy, because I know where it's taking us.

Even if I needed a Jawbone, this ad would force me to find a competitor's product instead.

    Absolutely unacceptable.

More like an "ugly american gets his come uppance" movie actually. But for a commercial? Just bad from start to finish.

Wow, snuff films as mainstream entertainment. But what happens when the universal "bad guy" is a minority like everyone else. Will this be a violation of "his" human-rights or is it already?

  5. Did a little checking and this is indeed Jawbone's way of marketing their product. Seems senseless to build something that works so well and then dump on it this way. They have another one where a shark chews up three obnoxious kids in a swimming pool. The films were made by some famous director whose name is not worth repeating.

  6. You will remember it. You may never like it, but you will remember it. Now you will remember a product you never heard of and it will increase sales. Nothing is too low when it comes to making money.

  7. Mr. Collier, it would seem that if you wanted to call someone out for their tasteless ad, you would feel duty-bound to mention the famous directors name...if not, why bother making it an issue?

  8. ronnie b: If you haven't noticed, in Hwood, any pub is good pub. Duty schmooty. Jawbone OTOH... and since you chose to comment, could I not ask you the same 'why bother' of you?

  9. Mr. Collier, your point is well taken...but the fact is, i don't have the the directors name to act on my concern..."any pub is good pub" is a truism to be sure, but not to act on that basis gives no opportunity for those who are concerned about the ad to voice their opposition...

  10. ronnie b., here it is, "award-winning music video auteur Sam Bayer". I simply typed in 'hot asian jawbone' into Google. Pssst, don't tell anyone, it will be our little secret. Anyhow, artists will do anything to get laid, beginning with getting paid. Of course my artistic heart is pure, fo'sure. Hot thang...

  11. I think this was supposed to be a play off of the judge in DC who tried to sue a Korean dry cleaner for $67 million over a pair of pants.
