Here's a sample of some of the comments the reporter heard about Barack Obama:
"I'm afraid if he wins, the blacks will take over. He's not a Christian! This is a Christian nation! What is our country gonna end up like?"
"When you got a Negra running for president, you need a first stringer. He's [McCain?] definitely a second stringer."
Sarah Palin seems to be the knife that John McCain is using to gut his own run for the White House.
Poor judgment simply does not describe what is going on here. Whatever one thinks of Obama, there should be no argument that McCain's stirring of such vile dens of racist cockroaches is the truest of political gifts, along (of course) with the hapless efforts of the clueless Federal Reserve and Securities and Exchange Commission.

They sound a lot like Obama's mentor, the Rev. Wright, only with the races reversed.
ReplyDeleteI'll concede that Dennis, by why in God's name does McCain have Palin out with a shovel diggin' these folks up by the thousands?
ReplyDeleteI do think there is a substantial difference between Wright and these people. For one, Wright served his country the hard way. And two, these people never suffered the discrimination that African Americans suffered. The one is ignorance and bigotry (white racist) and the other is rage based on experience and holding on to the past (African Americans). Both wrong - but one justified and understandable and the other not.
ReplyDeleteexcellent post.
ReplyDeleteI think McCain was talked into making Palin his choice for VP.
ReplyDeleteAs news of the splits in his party and advisors are coming to light, his inability to lead becomes more evident.
Had he picked his good friend Leiberman as his running mate (which would have upset the party base), I would have had more respect for him as a true maverick. The Palin compromise seems to be backfiring on McCain and his party. The only "star" to emerge will be Palin. McCain should not have tried to use so many Bush advisors and then claim to be something different.
As painfully aware of racism I am, it still shocks me to see the blatant racism that the Republican party actually panders to.
ReplyDeleteI agree with siditty. I mean d.c. is not too bad with the racism stuff but when the mccain/palin rally came to town, it seemed to bring the kkk with it.
ReplyDeleteThe US is turning into a one party system with libs in charge you guys should be happy.
ReplyDeleteThe US will breakup in the end I can't wait.
Jeez talk about raw! I wonder what those folks think now, they must be ready to slight their throats.... or Obama's. At any rate this why I'm glad they are in the "heartland", they can have that crap!
